9-30-10 Open house November 4th Tempe Historical Museum 5-8pm.
YOU ARE INVITED TO THE FIRST ANNUAL VETERANS HISTORY PROJECT OPEN HOUSE!
The Veterans History Project (www.tempeconnections.org/vhp), sponsored by the United States Library of Congress and administered locally by Tempe Connections of the Tempe Public Library in conjunction with The Tempe Historical Museum (http://www.tempe.gov/museum/) is holding an Open House at the Tempe Historical Museum on Thursday, 4 November 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
This open house in open to Veterans, Veterans families, the general public and especially the youth of today. We are seeking more veterans to interview to keep their story alive. By sharing military service experiences, current and future generations my hear directly from
veterans and better understand the realities of war. Interviews are conducted, recorded, sent to the National Archives for on-line viewing.
Expected veterans will be attending that served in Germany in WWII, landed at Normandy on D-day +2, Flew B-24’s into Romania, Korean War vets, one who landed behind enemy lines, Vietnam War veterans and those of our recent Gulf War conflicts. Expected veterans groups include VA, Joe Foss Institute, DAV, AZ Vets Home, Pat Tillman Foundation, Honor Flight and more. There will be displays, photos, videos, artifacts and models for viewing and discussions, as well as appetizers and beverages available.
COME, HEAR THEIR STORIES! TALK TO THE VETERANS…
The Tempe Historical Museum, located on the south-west corner of Rural and Southern in Tempe will be open for a visit while you are there, so come early.
